We are long time residents of Las Vegas (20 years), but we’ve gotten out of the habit of visiting Downtown. Last week we decided to have dinner at the El Cortez, for old time’s sake. From the time we walked in I could truly say it was a very enjoyable experience. I guess I came in the back door from the parking garage and had to ask a slot supervisor where the buffet was. He didn’t just tell me, he led me to it. My wife was playing video poker and a young man stopped and asked her why she wasn’t using a player’s club card. When she said she didn’t have one, he cheerfully ran the errand and got her card for her. We had dinner at the Chinese Buffet and I must say it was well prepared, no waiting in long lines and the service was excellent. We were both reminded of Old Las Vegas. We will be back soon to they the steakhouse and the coffee shop. Congratulations Mr. Gaughan for preserving the courtesy, friendliness, and value of an earlier era. We missed that without knowing it and are extremely pleased to find it again at the El Cortez.

The beds were comfortable and the towels thick and white. The buffet was very tasty and I liked the cloth napkins. We liked the quiet smoke-free room and the free covered parking.

The beds were comfortable and the view superb. We found the overall condition of the hotel and casino to be very clean, and if the apparent renovations under way continue, it will be one of the best kept secrets in Las Vegas. We ate at both Roberta’s and Kitty’s Café and found the food to be excellent and prices very reasonable for the quality of both the food and services. Every Employee with whom we had contact, from the front desk to the doorman, valet and housekeeping were polite, friendly and accommodating. Once again, everything was wonderful and I will recommend the El Cortez to anyone I know who is going to Las Vegas.

I must tell you we were floored with the upgraded look and feel of the El Cortez!! Upon arriving back to Wisconsin I went onto your website to look at the rooms, and went to Trip Advisor to read recent feedback. The ones for 2004 and into 2005 were not very good, BUT getting to 2006 and 2007 they are great. They talk about the wonderful mattresses and the nice size of the rooms. We are planning to stay with you and again bring Wisconsin cheese next trip.
